July|Positive 31 Days, 31 Photos... #27, #28, #29, #30

Untitled #33

Well, here it is folks: the final installment of 31 Days, 31 Photos! Enjoy!

#27

On Saturday we had grandma round for lunch. I wore my Rimmel Apocalips Lipgloss. I don't know why I look so tired, I've been going to bed at about 10:30 every night!

#28

On Sunday mum and I took a nice stroll around Bath, I love this walk along the river looking out at the Empire and Weir. It's great to remember that I live somewhere so lovely, most of the time I don't appreciate it!

#29

I've managed to get a trail shift/interview at a local pub in London, so have been searching high and low for a pair of black pumps to wear - as this blurry photo demonstrates!

#30

On Tuesday I made a horrible green smoothie - it was made of Pineapple, Kiwi, Orange Juice, Banana and... Spinach. I don't know that it was the spinach that made it disgusting, but it was horrible. Still, I got to take this fun snap nonetheless!

Morning Coffee At The Bath Pump Rooms

I've lived in Bath my whole life and yet I've never been to the Pump Room.
For those of you who don't know the Pump Room forms part of the ancient Roman Baths which were hot springs where the wealthy would come to bathe and socialise.
Today the Baths are roped off and visited by hundreds of tourists  a year, and the same hot spring water has been used in the fancy new Spa. (Well worth a visit!)

Anyway, the Pump Room isnow an elegant restaurant where a string quartet play. Mum, nanny and I decided it was high time we paid it a visit!
The room was truly stunning, and such a lovely experience with the strings playing.

I had a Bath Bun with cinnamon butter and a smoothie, whilst mum and nanny both went for a cappuccino and carrot cake!
The bill just came to £20 which considering it is a tourist attraction with live music wasn't bad value at all!

I would highly recommend the Pump Room to anyone in or visiting Bath. And, if it's a special occasion their Afternoon Tea looks divine!

Royal Baby Cupcakes // The Easiest Cupcake Recipe, Ever!

To celebrate the birth of the Royal Baby(!) we had a family BBQ whilst all frantically refreshing our phones/ipads/laptops to see if there had been any developments.

During the afternoon I decided to bake a batch of cupcakes, following a Mary Berry recipe and then topped them with buttercream - decorating half pink and half blue - pink for a girl, blue for a boy!

Here's the (super easy) recipe...

  • - 50g/2oz cocoa powder
  • - 6 tbsp boiling water
  • - 3 free-range eggs
  • - 4 tbsp milk
  • - 175g/6oz self-raising flour
  • - 1 rounded tsp baking powder
  • - 100g/4oz baking spread or soft butter
  • - 300g/10oz natural caster sugar

    1. Preheat the oven to 180C

    2. Put the cocoa powder and boiling water into a large bowl and mix well to make a paste.

    3. Add the remaining ingredients and beat again until combined. (I added a few chopped walnuts too.)

    4. Divide the mixture into the cups.

    5. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

    6. Whip up some icing/buttercream and enjoy!

    Congratulations to Will&Kate!

    Kisses,

July|Positive Review

With only 5 days left until August I thought it would be a good time to have a little 'July Review'.
As any frequent Hummingbirdxxx reader would know, I'e been trying to have a 'Positive July', I made a list at the beginning of the month with a list of things I wanted to achieve and I thought I would check up on my progress.

Graduate

Well, graduate I did. It was a lovely day (minus my fainting spell) and I felt how proud my parents were of me. It truly will be a memory I treasure forever - I still can't quite believe that the University era of my life is over!

Training Contract Applications

This has been a serious downer on July, but it is something I have to do. I'm churning out about 1 application a day, which doesn't leave a whole lot of time for much else! Hopefully my work will be fruitful and I will be lucky enough to get some offers!

31 Days, 31 Photos...

In an effort to make me appreciate all the nice things I get up to over July, I've been trying to take a photo a day. It's been more of a challenge than I anticipated it to be! This is one of my favourite July snaps - such a sweet photo of my mum and nanny laughing!

Visit New Flat

I've been to my new flat twice now, and I am so in love with it! I cannot wait for my new London life to begin, it already feels like home!

See Friends - don't become a hermit!

I've seen a few friends, although not as many as I would have liked (darn those applications)! But, there may be some plans in the pipelines!

Book a holiday with the BF

Miraculously, this has been done! And I'm so looking forward to it! One of the reasons behind July|Positive was the fact that the BF was going away for 6 weeks which was making me a little blue!
But having this trip to Paris to look forward to makes me very excited and gives me something fabulous to look forward to do!

So, I feel I have done quite well with my July|Positive list (See original here), but there are a few that I haven't completed - or even got near to completing...

Complete Blogilates July Calendar

I think I got to like day 3 of this?! I blame the extreme heat wave and my applications. But, I do want to get in shape before my trip to Paris, so I'm planning on hitting it hard after my applications are due in, maybe I'll do August|Fitness? Please, I'm not even kidding myself!

Sort out my Shoe Situation

I did manage to semi-solve my shoe problem, when I bought these guys...

But, I now realise that maybe they are too high to walk in all around Paris for like 6 hours straight. Ah well.
Anyway, I would still like some little booties, but it's just not the season to buy them, boo. So in conclusion, I still need to buy a pair of shoes...

Make some Money

However, the shoe situation is made harder by my money situation - or lack of! I even signed up for some medical trials, that's how in need of money I am!

Run the Second of the Two Tunnels

Again, fitness has not been my strong point during July. But, this is totally an aim for August pre Paris!

THEREFORE, July|Positive has been fairly positive, and it's not even over yet - there's still 5 days! Maybe I will come into millions and be able to sort out my shoe crisis!
I'll keep you posted!

Kisses,

Untitled #33
Recently I have been super busy, nothing particularly exciting, but the days have just kept on coming.

As part of July|Positive here is a snap a day from the past 8 days...

#19

How amazing is this Wisteria?! On Friday night we decided to make the most of the nice weather and mum, dad and I went for an evening stroll around Bath. This is one of the crescents in Bath - quite possibly Landsdown(?)but don't hold me to that. Anyway, here we were on a crescent and this one house had an amazing Wisteria - just look at the intertwining trunk on the railings! It reminded me of something out of Harry Potter, it's the type of plant you can imagine coming alive and trapping you in all its trunk-i-ness.

#20

The next day, still in the walking vibe, mum dad and I went for a walk along the canal in Devises. It was so green (especially the canal!) and pretty!

#21

Sunday night - I made myself a killer chocolate/walnut/snickers cupcake - and it was delicious!
I'm completely into 2 Broke Girls at the moment, and for those who don't know, they have a cupcake business, which makes me crave one every time I watch the show!

#22

Kate Middleton is in labour! To celebrate this I decided that we should have (another) BBQ. I think this summer holds the record for the most BBQs we have ever had in our house, and I LOVE it!

#23

I think KM is such a babe! How lovely did she look presenting our royal baby to the world?! To celebrate I made cupcake, blue for a boy, of course!

#24

All this application business seemed to be paying off when I got a telephone interview with a law firm on Wednesday. Here's my post it for interview prep.

#25

A lovely card sent from a friend, and my darling baby cousin picked me some lavender - feeling loved!

#26

This lush dress was under £7 from Misguided - amazing!!

Kisses,
